Challenge
The business was previously using Excel spreadsheets to manage their estimating processes which was extremely time consuming and prone to errors. They therefore decided to implement an estimating software solution to help streamline their processes.
TH Mechanical looked at 17 different estimating software packages over 4 months to ensure they chose the best solution to meet their needs. After multiple software demonstrations they opted for EValuate from Eque2.

Getting Started
TH Mechanical had been using Microsoft Excel for several years meaning that all their libraries were stored on an Excel database. It was important that they could get this information quickly and accurately into EValuate.
Brian discussed, “With EValuate we were impressed with how quickly we were able to import all of our libraries from our Excel database – we imported an 84,000-line database within minutes! This means all our core costs are now in the software and if we need to, we can easily lift our margins against those costs imported, it’s great.”
“Another area we were particularly impressed with was how quickly and easy it was to create a Bill of Quantities – it takes seconds. Previously using Excel this could take a couple of hours to pull together. With EValuate we can then export this to Excel or as a PDF if we need to.”
Integrated On-Screen Takeoff
The business opted to include the integrated On-Screen Takeoff module that allows users to perform a fast, accurate, on-Screen Takeoff from all file types, with enhanced CAD drawing and BIM model functionality available.
Brian commented, “The Takeoff tool is great, the link to the dimensions is incredible, and we can easily get a measurement from a drawing and put an accurate cost to it. There is also a live link between the Dim sheet and the Takeoff that enables amendments and revisions to automatically update the bill.”

When talking about the support they’ve received from Eque2 for their EValuate software Brian said, “We have been really impressed with the support team at Eque2, whether we need to pick up the phone and speak to a technician or send an email query, we are responded to within a good time frame and our issue is always resolved.
